Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct for Merthyr Cynog Community Council sets out the standards of behaviour expected from all councillors. Upon election or co-option, each councillor must formally accept their role by signing a declaration of acceptance of office, which includes a commitment to uphold this Code. The purpose of the Code is to ensure that councillors carry out their duties with integrity and transparency, always acting in the public interest. It also ensures that they do not use their position for personal gain or act in a way that could damage the reputation of the Council.

Standing Orders

The Standing Orders of Merthyr Cynog Community Council are designed to assist in the proper conduct of Council business. They set out the policies and procedures - both those laid down in statute and those adopted by resolution of the Council – which govern the way in which the Council operates. The master document is held by the Clerk to the Council and may be inspected by any person by prior appointment with the Clerk.

Financial Regulations

Merthyr Cynog Community Council’s Financial Regulations provide a clear framework for managing the Council’s finances responsibly. These rules and procedures are in place to ensure transparency, accountability, and sound financial practices. They set out how the Council prepares budgets, manages income and expenditure, and oversees all financial activities, ensuring that public money is handled properly and used effectively for the benefit of the community.
